BACKSTORY !
even when kie's parents were alive, he was home alone most of the time. this left plenty of free time to do whatever his heart desired. he learned how to cook, write, and read. for his 10th birthday, his parents gifted him a cd player. his collection of cds grew over the years to include bands like the beatles, mazzy star, and motley crue. after his parents died, he would venture over to hogsmeade on his birthday to grab a butterbeer and have strangers' company. his parents never gave him hugs or kisses or told him they loved him. this caused him to hate physical touch for years. however, he has come to love hugging his friends and reminding them how loved they are, since he never had that. spending a lot of time by himself forced him to explore the library in his house and become familiar with the classics. shakespeare, the bronte sisters, edgar allen poe, jane austen, and viriginia woolf taught him all the life lessons he needed to know. as kie says, "mornings are for sunrises and coffee, peacefulness and contentment, reading and music." though he seems like your typical teenage boy at first glance, there is a lot more to kieran amory gray than meets the eye.
